| [HN7000S] Satellite/Sun Outage on HN7000S
I am a contented 5+ year Direcway/Hughes net customer in Greensville County, VA. I upgraded to the HN7000S from the DW4000 in 2006. For the last 3 weeks, anytime between 8am and 6pm, when the sun is shining..the signal goes down from the 80's to 15. The 3 middle lights on the HN7000S go out. Otherwise it works when the sun goes down..or when the clouds block the sun. I called Hughes net about it, they did the transponder test and nothing happened. So, today they are sending a tech out to check it..yeah at the $125 cost. The tech called me on the repair order and told me the new HN9000 series is now available. Will this help us? Is this happening to anyone else on the East Coast with the HN7000S?
Give Thanks...Jahwaters |

| Sun outages where the sun interferes with the satellite only last for a few minutes at the most. Yours sounds more like a heat issue on the outdoor unit. I have a 9000 and a 7000 the 9000 doesn't work better than the 7000. -- 9000 spaceway III, 7000S SatMex 5 1270, Dlink wirless |

@gbis.net | reply to Jahwaters I had this problem and I live in Nevada where it gets real hot and it ended up being the transmitter/reciever where shorting out in the heat. They had to replace it and it was ifne. |

| reply to Jahwaters I recall reading somewhere on a forum that people have tried spraying an overheating tria with water too cool it down and make it work proving that the problem was overheating... -- Hughesnet/Anikast/Motosat/Tachyon installer l Home-ShawCable HS l Work vehicle-Motosat D2 F1 6000 from Xplornet [Canadian] l Windows XP |

| reply to Jahwaters The problem might be overheating, but overheating is not a problem. I live in the Sonoran desert, and in 6 years of owning a dish, heat has not been an issue. But combine it with an imperfection in equipment or installation, and I suppose it could be. |

| Yes, It is a defective tria that should be replaced if it is a overheating problem...the spraying cool water on the tria during the day is just a method to determine if that is the cause of the problem... -- Hughesnet/Anikast/Motosat/Tachyon installer l Home-ShawCable HS l Work vehicle-Motosat D2 F1 6000 from Xplornet [Canadian] l Windows XP |

It is dark now so i can use my broadband. They are going to send a tech out at a cost to me of $125.00 I told them that it was not my problem that it was their problem but that is like talking to a rub board. |
