Warning!! The park & ride lot in Barrhaven (on Fallowfield) is often full by 9am, all 800+ spots (it's very popular, and this is why they've expanded it twice since it opened). It's only 20 minutes by bus to downtown from there, now that the Transitway is all the way out there.
If that's the case, it's easy to head a little way south on Greenbank and park in the Barrhaven Shopping Centre (Loblaw/Wal*Mart). You can catch the 95 there, and I don't think anybody's going to notice or care about a car there for ~3 hours. Lord knows, my wife parks there and has barely started shopping in 3 hrs
You can also go to South Keys (south end, corner of Banks and hunt Club). I's been a while since I've been to Ottawa, but there is a terminus right at South Keys and it is very quick to get Downtown from there. Also *lot* of parking both at the terminus or the mall.

I find that one fills up early, and the shopping mall is a bit more strict about commuter's cars parked in their lot. If it is full, there's nowhere to go from there but downtown and pay dearly for parking. Also, just to get there from any major highway is a nightmare!

Just my opinion. I think we've beaten this to death.
