Re: Record programs from ABC.COM

I most certainly am Guessing that I'm not, doesn't make it so. If not, I'm sure Microsoft would not have built that functionality into MCE to begin with (along with dozens of other PC DVR/Tuner systems!). And then there are things like Tivo "Desktop", etc. You need to some further research before assuming "technically" it's not allowed.
And exactly where is your legal cite that says because Microsoft builds recording functionality into an OS that it's then legal for you to download any copyrighted material of your choice without permission?

I used the word "probably". I'm not a copyright or MPAA or RIAA attorney, are you?

But I'd suspect that between the two downloading legalities, 'not legal' is more likely than 'legal'.

I have no problem with fair use, and I record lots of stuff.

But where's the law that says ABC Corp., or any other media provider, is required to make it easy?
None whatsoever None preventing the OP asking for assistance in making a personal recording off the Internet either
That's right. And I offered him/her some. You haven't.

I also commented on what appears to have become a common attitude-- that of, 'it exists, therefore it should be mine for free'.

Quoting the O.P.:

. . Apparently ABC has gone out of their way to trick such programs . . .
Awww. Poor baby. ABC won't just let him help himself to their copyrighted material without any effort whatsoever on his part.
