Thank You to all who have served and sacrificed

A special thank you to all the servicemen and women who have served, protected and sacrificed for our country and our freedom.

My husband and I took the opportunity yesterday to make a trip to the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery. My father-in-law, a veteran of WWII and Korea, is buried there, and we make it a point to get by there now and again.

Sometimes we go up there when an elderly veteran with no family dies, and there will be few people there for his memorial. When Pop died, he was a resident of the Veterans home in Tilton, NH, and many folks came to honor him. We were very honored that they did.

Sometimes we go just to visit, and read the history plaques and, inevitably, learn something we had never had any clue about.

It has been extremely windy here this week, so yesterday turned into a "flower rescue and recovery mission". We started out up-righting one potted plant on a grave that had been flipped upside down by the wind. One plant led to two, etc., etc.

By the time we had gotten all of those flowers and plants straightened out, we were considerably happier, but had lost most of the afternoon.

The wind has died down, so perhaps they will all stay upright until the caretakers come through.
