Looking for a new TVI am wanting to get a new TV and want to know what to look for. I know I want at-least a DTV most likely a HDTV. So that is out of the way, obviously. Now what display technology, Contrast ratio, response time, and inputs.
This is what I currently have to hook it up to. Wii Progressive DVD player 5.1 stereo broadcast TV
I know a little from buying my LCD monitor but that was years ago. So advice please. Actual TV recommendations welcome also. |

What size are you looking for? And what are you looking to spend? Any brand preferences?
If you are looking for a cheaper decent quality tv, the Vizio brand has a good middle ground picture quality at low end prices. You can get a 32" for ~$500 or a 37" for ~$800. If you want 1080p though, you need to get at least a 40" unless you want to pay 40" prices for a 32 or 37". I know at my store we have a 42" Vizio that does 1080p for $1100.
Samsung used to be my fav brand, still is in most cases, but we have a new Sony Bravia V series tv that just looks amazing, and its not even top of the line, so its only $1500 for a 40" (yes, 1080p)
BTW, the Wii doesnt look all that great on an hdtv, so if the Wii looking good is important, I'd go with something smaller than 37" (I have a 37 and while alright looking, it still looks better in 480i on my 27" sdtv, not as stretched and blocky) |

Size no smaller than a 32. Under $1200. Brands not really except to stay away from Westinghouse. The room is 13x20. And I am not sure on the placement of the TV but I think most of the viewing will be from the side, not straight on. |

Samsung LNA52650/750,about as good as LCD is,for right now(yes even Sony). sorry 40,46.52" But price is dropping as we speak. New sets out second half. Mitsu. laser will be out later this year. Which means, new if you want,or price drop of everything else. That's what I'm getting for Den,big screen is another story(70" and up) NB |

And I have had some of their other products and haven't had all that good of luck. |

» electronics.pricegrabber ··· t=query/^^^ Here's a good one but it's plasma. 42 inch. This TV will definitely do what you need, but I know some people don't like plasmas. 50 inch for a couple hundred more. Worth it though IMO. Possibly $1200 for the 50. |
