YouTube Problem! - videos load SLOWLY!

Okay, you're thiking...

"Why is this posted here?"

Well, in my opinion there's a good reason. I've been having trouble with loading YouTube videos - specifically. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash player, and i've even tried a different computer on a different Comcast internet connection in a Diferent City - no luck.

Do YouTube Videos in general load Really Slowly for everyone? For Example:

A 25 second family-guy clip - stopped 3 times while loading. This has been happening - with all YouTube videos - for the last month or so.

Thanks for your input! Is this youtube's problem? looks to me like it, but i Want to be Sure; it's Really annoying!

3 seconds to load in here, and no hiccups during.

Took about 5 seconds to start playing and was done loading before the playback reached the half way point.

In general I've never had issues with youtube, only very few times the whole site was a bit sluggish, but there was website maintenance going on.

About 4-5 seconds for the progress bar to fully load, played instantly.

started almost instantly, played through without a glitch, download was just over 1 meg complete in 1 second (give or take, I couldn't tell)

I have 50/5 comcast internet and even I saw glitches in loading the video. However, a couple hours later it loaded fine.

Youtube is by far NOT the fastest site all the time. There are times where it's painfully slow to load anything from that site - think about it, there are a gazillion users trying to access stuff a the same time.

Sometiems videos load with no issue while others, it chokes. And, when I've experienced chokes, other sites I check are loading blazing fast.

Actually I had a similar problem a few days ago. I finally had to download SpeedBit Video Accelerator. It made things like they have always been, movies start in 1-5 seconds and no buffering. I uninstalled it earlier today and everything is right with the world again.

So if you problem continues you can try that program. Otherwise its probably just a temporary hiccup in the system.

Edit: I just tried with the accelerator again. Video starts instantly and is fully downloaded in 1-2 seconds. I might keep it.

I came to this forum specifically for this issue, so I'm not the only one. I believe it has been about a month (off and on) where youtube videos will load really slow. But it's been now a couple of days where Youtube is always slow. This happens also on my iPhone as well (using Comcast over wifi).

Also I don't have my powerboost speeds anymore during these couple of months.

the same thign just occured to me. now all the videos load almost without a hitch.

guess it was a youtube bug. Thanks to everyone for helping investigate this! strange because... it's been going on for weeks, and it just went away during the time today after I posted... life's weird like that.

you try to fix a problem.. then after you have the parts to fix the problem, you notice that the problem has disappeared.

I've had the same problem. I just recently switched from DSL to Comcast. With DSL I never really had the problem... once in a while, but not often. Ever since I switched to Comcast, YouTube has taken minutes (rather than seconds) to load a video. But when I go to other sites, the pages load ultra-fast. I don't know what the issue is, maybe just a slow server but kind of wierd that this just happens to me on Comcast.

Exactly. The flash play controls on YT have yet to meet 2008 standards... I mean, a 10 to 15 second forced rewind? God forbid the urge to see a clip frame by frame or fast forward "just a bit"... its like Tivo rewind. lol

Nothing to do with the transition from DSL to cable. It's just the nature of youtube; it gets bogged down sometimes. I have 6meg connection and it sometimes loads without problems, and sometimes loads extremely glitchy...

I'm deciding to refer all further discussion to this thread, which is making much more progress in figuring out the problem...
