The Montreal gang departs!

Our grand gang of 7... The bus is a bit sparse, to be sure. We feel a bit bad for Rocky :-P

Too bad I can't make it. I think my boss would think I was nuts if I asked for a day off for this. Oh well, good luck guys!

7? Dang! People from Ottawa better show up!
At least some cared enough about the internet's future in Canada to come from out of town.

I've booked my time off. I'll be there. I'm leaving in about 1 hour (heading for the hill).

I also know a colleague from work who is going to be there.

Regards,
CK

I am, so I don't see why he couldn't... We're now passing through Ottawa. JF, why did you take Greyhound instead of this one? Surely this one is cheaper.

Pretty sure greyhound is only $20 to Ottawa.

maybe car pooling would have been better.

7 people in a van plus gas/mileage, probably coming pretty even.

It wasn't a van. It was a chartered full 56-seater Coach Canada (greyhound style) bus. We were all clustered in the front of it. The driver was a bit curious that he was driving 7 people in a full passenger bus...

It also ended up being free roundtrip, and $0 is less than $20.

Overall, I'm glad I went. I was right dead center front row in front of the speakers, so I'm likely to be in some media shots too :P

Wanted to do more meet & greet with various people, but it was just too big of a group and nobody was introducing themselves. So I just said hi to Rocky and left it at that.

Well, I did help a little to get people introduced in Montreal bus. I could upload it if people in the bus don't see any objections. Message me if you have anything to tell me.

I meant in general when we got to Ottawa; many of us forum goers were clustered in more or less the same area, but nobody said hello to anybody else :P

Yeah - tis a shame we didn't get to meet.

Lol - In the photo that you sent with a portion of the Montreal crew circled, I am to the right looking downwards!

Coach Canada...

You picked the best coach operator on the planet. Top Notch.

Yeah Guzpaz, we didn't even meet and we were pretty close to each other.

I did get to meet sharpshark though. He did mention he had good lungs for his upcoming blow job and that he didn't need help (oops, I wasn't supposed to say who it was with Godzilla

I was really hoping that our two buses would meet on the 417 ,that is why I mentioned my bus' position a couple of times.

After the fact, I was able to associate your face to your name because one picture had an arrow with "Guspaz" pointing to your face. And BTW, you don't look anything like your avatar

Who else was on the official bus ?

re: best bus lines.

Once a year, after riding Montréal-Québec on my bike, I come back by bus. (used to take the train until the started to systematically refuse cyclists).

Hadn't taken the Ottawa bus in about 10 years. I have tto say that the Orleans Express buses are significantly nicer than the Voyageur/Greyhounds used on the montreal-ottawa line.

So there are differences in interior comfort between different bus lines (and I suspect greyhound my have much better buses on its laung haul lines).

But for someone who has not taken those buses, choosing which company has better buses would be pretty hard.

In the case of Toronto-Ottawa service, I wonder if it would have been possible to get one of the lines that actually operate that route, and have to rent the bus only on one direction )so that you would have the right departure time to arrive for the rally), and then get people to use the regular schedule for the return trip (allowing people to choose when they came back).

This would have had more complications in terms of fares charged to people though. But having to lease a bus only one way would have probably saved rocky mucho money.

(and to the bus company that bus can then be put back in regular service from Ottawa).

DSL_Ricer was on it, sharpshark was, and a few others who I'm afraid I don't remember the DSLR handles of.

I'm still curious, though, why you paid to take a bus instead of taking the free (or what we originally thought was cheap) bus provided by TSI?
