| reply to SD6 Re: Mayor automatic OK; PSC - who knows?
said by SD6 :said by TKJunkMail :The NY PSC may or may not approve it based on who the appointed members are and the political views of the politicians that appointed them. Sorry, but NY PSC is at least quasi-independent. If you are not familiar with the NY PSC, and it sounds like you are not, you should not go around making casual statements impugning their integrity. I am familiar with them and I can say that they will most probably not reject the FIOS franchise agreement. I'll stand by my comment. The 5 member PSC is appointed by the Governor and approved by the State Senate. They owe their jobs to politicians. You can call them quasi-independent, but they are political appointees with their future depending on politicians. »www.dps.state.ny.us/pscinfo.html
Commission consists of up to five members, each appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate for a term of six years or to complete an unexpired term of a former Commissioner. The Chairman, designated by the Governor, is the chief executive officer of the Department. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page |

| 1) None of the current commissioners was appointed by the current governor. The previous two governors are out of politics.
2) Even so, the appointment does not dictate how they vote on franchise agreements. They have been consistent in their votes over the last two years and they have published their rationale wrt franchise agreements. Read those and you will have an indication of how they are likely to perceive the NYC franchise. Your "comment" is an uninformed political diatribe. Not everyone on a government agency sees things only in shades of red and blue. |
