Chances are it's a LEVEL 3 issue - do a search - either they didn't get paid or they didn't get up this morning

It's not only level3 that has failures though, pccwbtn, at&t, glbx are all having problems.

I'm wondering if maybe it's a BGP problem of some sort.

Yes, just heard the same thing from Go Daddy...they know of the issue and are hoping the Comcast Engineers are working on it...uh...so do I!

Being blocked in New Jersey as well, GoDaddy along with about 100 sites I host with them. Called Comcast support, they kept me on hold a bit while they submitted a trouble ticket. Said it will take 48-72 hours to be resolved. I guess I should just take the next few days off from work, since I can't access any of my client's sites.

If that is GoDaddys offical line I'm dropping them as a Host and moving to Hostgator. It's bad enough they can't look at server logs to pin point a shared hosting issue because they have 2000 ip#'s per box but that is ridiculous.

i don't see how comcast is "blocking" anything, since it's out of their network..

No pbay, demonoid, vcdquality, imagefap and lots of other non-us hosted sites are reachable here in Houston.

Given the the questionable morality of all those sites the thought crossed my mind briefly that comcast might be telling me what to do with my internet

I believe we have already determined that. Read the whole thread.

The question is.. Where DOES the problem lie?

So far, (and im not innocent here) we have blamed Comcast, Godaddy, Level 3, Att.
Obviously.. looking at the tracert to several sites.. Someone or something else is at fault here.

An interchange is down between middle men. Hopefully not a tourist attack. Chances are it will all be operational in a hour or four. While infrequent, it does happen. This is the .1 portion of your 99.9% SLA. No one person you or I pay or can call can fix it .. it's up to who THEY pay.

I was just reiterating that the traffic is leaving comcast's network. I'm still thinking it's a BGP issue of some sort.

This node is reporting 25% packet loss in Philadelphia. Comcast HQ is in Philly.. any connection?

Most central routers dump a portion of ping packets these days. Not a clear indication of issue anymore.

Sprint is a Cisco shop -- the 12000/GSR platform and the CRS platform throttle ICMP. You'll see the same behavior on the Level(3) "ebr" routers which are Force10 e-series hardware.

So I assume OpenDNS is not going to make a difference...has anyone given it a try in the last few?
