Anyone see this orange truck in your area?

I got out of the house today and 3 blocks from my house I see this orange truck driving, so I read the window and it says " we're mapping your world ". So I took a picture with my cell phone and posted it here. Anyone know what company this is? and what are they doing and have you seen this in your town?

Probably Google or some other StreetView thing. I'm pretty sure it's not MS Live! because they have their logo all over the thing.

Since it looks like there's a logo under 'we're mapping your world', that's probably the company.

It's Tele Atlas. Here's a brochure on their trucks.

If I were to venture a guess, I would say that they are "mapping my world".

See if you can get ahead of it and do something really strange on the side of the street! You will be a part of the online mapped world!

Fascinating! It's an exciting time to be alive as far as some of the current and upcoming advances in technology are concerned although there may be some small lament over the slow death of what some of us once knew as privacy.

I'm curious as to how often they will visit places to update images and will it be archived so we can come back years from now and see how things once looked. I'll keep an eye out for the orange truck but I doubt they will be coming to my tiny village anytime soon.

The Google street view in my part of Texas used a service from some other company.
On google you can look down at the top of the vehicle and see many differences from this one. None of the Google pictures I have seen are from an orange van.

Nah, they were busy mapping SuperNet33's world. Some of us are still in a realm outside causality and function.

A simple google search turned this up as the first result:

Looks like the van in question. A 3rd party mapping company.

Google uses NavTeq Which I think is better updated compared to Tele Atlas.

Try "birds eye" on maps.live.com - - And I see NAVTEQ runs both web sites.
