Comcast has the same kind of Fiber-Optic Network that Time Warner does.
It's a Super-Hybrid FTTMCGVOWTCHAIJ2640A network
FIBER TO THE MOST CONVENIENT GENERAL VICINITY OF WHERE THE CUSTOMERS HOMES ACTUALLY IS, JUST 2640' AWAY.

I find it far more likely that, instead of "fiber" as in fiberoptics, they're considering the speed at which dietary fiber travels through the colon.
"So for $20 more a month, I can upgrade from Corn Muffin Speed to Wheat Bagel Speed?"
