1 edit | Well at least we know where your loyalties are Karl... If you're going to post an objective article thats one thing but I'm gonna call ya on this one...you are short on facts and long on "I love FIOS regardless of what customers are actually experiencing". Not an article I would expect from a site that claims to be unbiased.
FACTS are: Verizon has been engaged in an all out legal war against anyone they deem to be a threat to their latest marketing campaign. The filing of threats and bogus lawsuits is well documented. It should be noted that Verizon has failed to prevail in ANY of their bogus lawsuits and this speaks worlds (something you so easily forgot to mention in your article above Karl).
Maybe Verizon should spend less effort threatening the competition and more time fixing the relationships with their customer and broken billing systems before they go on bogus assaults on their competitors. |

EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA | Uh... the only evidence of this "all-out war" I've seen is the lawsuit against Time Warner Cable for making false claims against Verizon's services, which I wasn't aware had been settled... Any other examples? |

| Verizon has filed lawsuits against the competitor in each of the markets they currently serve. And those Verizon has not filed against have all received nasty grams via corporate attorneys. In the cases that have been heard by the courts Verizon has failed to make their case. As for each case...google is your friend...its all there including original pleadings and final disposition. -- Can't find me here today? You can always reach me at »www.ispgeeks.com |

EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA | Google is my friend, eh? If they've sued all of their competitors, I would assume that would include Comcast, local cable company over here in Greater Boston, but ten pages of searching for Verizon lawsuit Comcast failed to give anything. Can't find anything against RCN either.
Now, Verizon has sued Charter, Cox and Vonage for VoIP-related patents (and they've won, at least against Vonage), but only Time Warner Cable was sued for advertising. |

| reply to BHNtechXpert Name some of these "bogus" lawsuits. And I do believe they prevailed against Vonage. Please show some examples if they are so well documented. (AND Karl is anything but biased towards Verizon. or maybe you haven't been following the site much.) |

 | reply to BHNtechXpert Funny you should mention Verizon's "broken billing system".
As a former billing admin there, billing issues resulted in the firing of most of our department.
I brought the issues to the attention of a director in order to motivate the IT department to rewrite some code and hung myself by doing so.
The most common and frustrating issue was erroneous charges for the set-top boxes. If a customer was direct billed, and even if the equipment was actually returned, the billing system would charge them anyway. At $500 per box, we literally wiped out many folks checking accounts. To make matters worse, "RIBS" would not automatically issue a refund after credit was applied. It had to be done manually and only by customer request. In other words, the only way the customer would get a refund is if they called and complained to the right people. The nail in my coffin was blowing the whistle on the one person who refused to proactively locate these refunds and issue them and not wait for the poor customer to call in 8 times for their $2000 back.
I wonder if you have any information regarding this or other issues and if they have been resolved in the present? Just curious as I'm not allowed to contact those who remain at Verizon in that department. |

Just curious as I'm not allowed to contact those who remain at Verizon in that department. The problems still exist (Just ask all the Verizon customers in Tampa Florida who joined employee picket lines this last week...funny how that never made the front page news here!) Additionally the state of Florida just levied a huge fine against for Verizon for failing to properly maintain their network AND poor repair service to it's customers and the city of Tampa is hot on the state heals...it's a comin and soon if they don't get their act together. |

 | interesting that ISP geek still havent provided any information about the failed lawsuits he was swearing by... |
