| Desktop icons arranged when restarted xp
I shutdown my xp and went out to work
When i returned and booted the pc on and windows started
The icons were in a different place and all straight. In a good way
But i never EVER even did anything or wanted my icons changed.
is this behavior of malware? |

| reply to atx Ah okay
But what the heck...My icons have not changed in months
Why all of a sudden now
I never right clicked or wanted to change the location of the icons...Hmmm seems bizzare to me or maybe it just decided to auto arranged when i restarted or booted
Kind of "Unexpected" if you ask me
But anyway...Yeah i just freaked when it happened
As i keep my xp tight knit and know it well |

. . is this behavior of malware? Hmmm. The icon placement and straightener virus.
It could do its thing and many people would not even be aware what it was up to. |

Why do you restart your machine so often, just out of curiosity? |

This is a free Microsoft add-on - install the dll in c:\windows\system32 |

is this behavior of malware? Go to any blank place on your desktop..right click..then go to arrange icons by.. and you can do anything you like with those icons. Just like Cudni posted in the link above.
If you reboot and then those setting change where you have put in the check marks..let us know.
But.. if you want to have a clean desktop try..
topdesk.exe
Topdesk (hides your desktop icons) If you would like to see your desktop wallpaper clearly without all of the icons cluttering it up, then (Snadboy's) Topdesk is the solution you need.
TopDesk clears your cluttered desktop by moving your icons to a pop-up menu accessible from the system tray. The programs you want to run are also easier to find as they are listed in alphabetical order.
Topdesk is only a small (111 KB) download, and it does not require an installation procedure. Just unzip it into the folder you want to run it from.

Some folks don't share my updating habits, but I pretty much (to good effect) take everything Windows & Microsoft Update sends down the pipe.
Once upon a time I got an Nvidia update for my graphics card that, once installed, messed up my icon placement. |
