Something That's Good to Know

Took off to the movie theater a couple of weeks ago. I knew that the tire on the rear passenger side, of my car, looked low. Before we took off, I forgot to look at it. Get a few blocks away and a nice trucker notified me that not only was the tire low, it was flat. And, I probably shouldn't be running on it. Crap! The roads are so bad around here, I didn't even notice. First time I've ever had a flat in this car since I bought it new in 2003. Pull over into a church parking lot and call AAA. 40 minutes..... 40 minutes!? I could change the tire in that time. I've changed them many times on the old beaters that I've owned in the past. I take a look in the trunk to see what kind of jack is provided. A nice scissors jack. Cool! No bumper jack. I hate those things. I decided not to cancel AAA though. If I couldn't get the lug nuts off, or something, I would be stuck in the parking lot until I call them again. Turns out the AAA guy found a nail in the tire. He said I could get away with just putting air in the tire and taking the car to a tire shop and getting the tire patched. I took the car home. I asked my youngest, "Do you know how to change a tire?" Nope. I wanted to show her how. I wouldn't want her to be stranded somewhere. You may not always be able to call AAA. So, I spent last Saturday morning giving her a lesson on tire changing. The owner's manual, with the car, showed the places where one should put the jack for each tire. Took me about 10 minutes to change it. Now, she knows what to do. It's a good thing for anyone to know.

Still Searching For Valhalla

Well, I had ignored my original journal for too long. I could no longer post in it. So, I started a new one. Just wanted to say how nice it's been to sleep in. And to be able to read the newspaper while kicking back and enjoying a cup of coffee. It's been a long time since I've been able to do that.
