1 edit | Anyone else in the Radford area getting TERRIBLE speeds? This forum looks pretty dead so I doubt I'll see any replies any time soon, but I'll post anyway.
I live in Christiansburg and have the 5 Mbit package. Up until last night my speeds have been perfect. Hell, I even get MORE than I'm supposed to sometimes. My download speeds never go below 600KBps and sometimes hit around 650KBps. But last night I noticed my speeds won't go any higher than about 60KBps (10 percent of what it should be).
My ping times are great so I don't understand it. It's like my speed is throttled or something. At first I thought they throttled me for overuse but I don't think they do that do they? I've had cable Internet through Charter, then Suddenlink, and now Jet for all in all about 4 or more years. I did notice a post on here as well as some info on the Jet site about a traffic cap but I regularly download 200GB - 500GB a month and nobody has ever said anything to me and they've never tried to charge me extra so I don't guess that's the problem.
I tried calling "technical support" but I kept getting some Indian and I just hung up. It was late at night and I guess they outsource their afterhours calls. I've called in the day before and always got an English speaking person. Sorry if I offended anyone, but I'm not wasting my time trying to figure out what the problem is with someone that barely speaks English correctly. Anyway, I called this morning at about 8:30AM and the wait time said 31 minutes so I just hung up once again.
I guess that's about it. I might try to call later today if things don't get better, but I ain't waiting 30 minutes. |
