| Microsoft's OneCare customer service IS THE BEST!
Hello,
Friday morning I FINALLY decided to take care of a recurring problem I had with Microsoft's OneCare, minor problem, be that as it may, but a problem.
The "1" was constantly orange. If I went to Microsoft Update, it would turn green, but upon reboot, the "1" would be orange again...
I posted the problem in this thread...
»Windows Live Care Pain in the neck problem...
and I thought everything was updated via MS updates. I called the 1-866-ONECARE..
Hardly any wait time at all on the phone, then a technician named I believe "Ash" asked me to check on the question of whether or not I had Service Pack 3 installed. I did not! I thought I did. He used "EasyAssist" and HE installed it for me, and at the end of the session I uninstalled "EasyAssist" and everything was fine. He was very polite and I had no problems..
The day after I had a call from Microsoft asking me if everything was fine and if I was satisfied.
I was floored!
When was the last time I got service like that from ANY Anti-Virus vendor?
Answer - Never...
The absolute worst service I ever had were from Kaspersky and secondly from Symantec. McAfee "calls" their cryptic and ridiculous answers (remember that crazy Live Chat system) support, Trend Micro's was lamebrained and I got nowhere with their telephone support (haven't used them in years, to be fair), and NOD32? Let's not even go there...
It wasn't even the support I got that floored me; it was the follow up call! and no crazy wait on hold for 6 years...
Microsoft, I'm gonna renew next year! Your customer support sold me.. -- I'm proud to be a troublemaker! America was founded by "troublemakers"!

1 edit | I had a problem with an MS Live application, and tech support was back to me with a reasonable solution within 24 hours (plus I received an apology for taking so long).
There are vendors who do care. MS is by no means the only one, or the best, in my experience, but I must say they rank in the Top 10. Ilya of DefenseWall is probably #1 in my experience. |

I worked for an ISP in for four years and from my experience, the remote access or streaming programs are just that. When the session is ended nothing is left behind nor is any info taken. Feel free to use this (»zapatopi.net/afdb/) if you are that paranoid.

I asked the tech guy and he assured me that wasn't the case. He also told me that the session cannot be started without my authorization and that is true. Even if "notes" were taken, who cares? If it was statistical data that is anonymous, I don't look for it but I don't care too I am NOT a drug dealer or a criminal to worry about that.

Nice to hear had a good experience with OneCare support. The follow up call is really amazing. Maybe more companies should think about doing that. I've only had experience with the OneCare forum, and found them to be very helpful and friendly. I'm using OneCare 2.5 beta, and so far it seems to be running flawlessly. |
