| I Don't like Honda Accord Brakes
Hey they stop it. it's just that I don't like it when it go from nothing to way engaged. I have 3 Accords and that's my only real bitch about them. All of them are the same so I'm sure it the way its supposed to be.
Are all Jap cars like this? My 300Z wasn't but that's a different type of car? |

| '97, 2000, 2005, and even my dad's new 2208.
To me it's like nothing and then way engaged.
I hate my '96 Taurus LX but I like the brakes and that was my primary car until 3 weeks ago.
It's probably just because it's the way it's supposed to be and I'm used to crap. |

If the brakes are not working properly, take it somewhere that knows the vehicle and have it inspected. Not a brake chain, but a shop that can properly diagnose it.
As with other cars, if repairs are necessary, then brake feel will be affected. -- Sand

| reply to mityfowl My 07 Accord is like that - my civic wasn't. You get used to it.
The first time I drove my wife's old Jetta (after having driven nothing but trucks, SUVs, vans and full sized sedans) the brakes felt WAY too strong to me, but after a short time they felt perfect. |

| reply to mityfowl I think I know what you mean, but I take it as *good* brakes, not something to complain about. If I drive a different car, the brakes just don't seem as strong and then I get in our Accord (2006) and the first time I put on the brakes, you get jolted forward. |

Yeah, even when they're worn down they stop better than an Accord of the same year.... My ex would always have to caution me when we'd take her 94 accord somewhere.
Now that my 94 325i brakes are getting a bit low they're not as responsive, so I need to get them replaced. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. User known formerly as zakooldude. |

| reply to mityfowl My car (Hyundai Sonata 2004) breaks about normal I would say. My mothers car (98 Saturn sl2) breaks you have to hit fairly hard. My dads car (96? can't think Izuzu Rodeo) breaks you have to hit hard. My sisters car (96 Rav4) breaks pretty hard. I guess you get used to it after awhile. -- Team Discovery-Join the fight |

| reply to mityfowl We have an '08 GMC Acadia and an '07 Ford Freestyle.
I love the Acadia brakes (very touchy) and can't stand the Ford's (mushy mushy).... The GMC drives like a typical GM - touchy brakes, steering so light you can drive with your pinky, plush seats, and all that ...
The Ford is, well, typical Ford. Mushy brakes, tight steering, solid suspension ...
Personally, I prefer the touchy brakes to the mushy feeling. But that's just me .. |

| reply to mityfowl I have a 2004 Accord EX6 they seem fine to me. I'll have to keep this in mind when checking the new ones out. if i ever do..
The worst car i ever had a 92 Buick Skylark.. I don't know how many times i almost ran into someone else with those. And i don't tail gate either. That was my first experience with ABS brakes.. I had to actually hold the steering wheel and stand on the brakes. The disks and drums in the back looked way to small to me for the size of the car. Also had to change front brakes every 20,000 miles.. --

| reply to mityfowl I had a 96 Accord, and compared to my other car at the time a cavalier it felt weaker.
however my cavalier had slotted brakes, and stainless steel brake lines also.. it would stop on a dime
My dads 07 accord seems to stop way better though. |

| reply to mityfowl Toyota Highlander has weak mushy feeling brakes but the brake assist really works well if you stomp on them HARD. Saab 9-5 Aero are super predictable and you can stand it on its nose if needed
Braking feels much different between auto and manual gearbox cars, bear this in mind when comparing. |

I had a 2003 Accord V6 EXL, and I just replaced it 2 weeks ago with the 2008 model of the same specs. Drove away and never noticed any difference. But I have driven Honda Accords for over 20 years and am probably used to the Honda feel. |

| reply to mityfowl The brakes on my old 2003 Toyota Corolla and my current 2008 Scion xB are responsive, but not overly responsive. If you press the brake, the car will stop and it does not take much force. To me, it's just right. However, when I went from a 2000 Saturn SL1 to the Corolla, there was a big difference. The Saturn's brakes took more force to stop the car. |

| reply to mityfowl They are quick to engage or "touchy" or however you would describe it. My son has an 05 and my mother has an 06 and they are like what you describe, however once you get used to it I like the response as opposed to a softer or "mushy" response. -- LHF's Football Master 2006 |
