Re: What a moronic analogy said by kapil:...If a hospital or any other business is running a mission critical network and doesn't have redundant routes to the interweb, those in charge of the said network should be fired immediately. What fool would run a critical service without having redundancy and disaster recovery plans in place? Be prepared to get REAL anoyed then. The US Air Force Networks can be taken out with a few well placed attacks. While the outer walls are monitored 24-7, there are relatively small links joining each base to a central hub, that in turn can be taken out. Yes, we can re-route around a down base, or we can set up sattelite links (VERY costly for sattelite time). This is not unlike how MANY airports are set up, particularly your smaller fields in suburban america. AND, approaches are not a mission critical app. You have FLIP charts that are published monthly/quarterly, NOTAMS that are transmitted via radio in REALTIME and of-course the beloved ATC/RAPCON folks. If a regional airport had their systems crashed by a spillover from a DoS, they will still operate, but you won't know when your flight will be leaving/arriving. -- If ya gotta go, Go with a SMILE! »www.thereligionofpeace.com/ |
