Re: Tomato/MLPPP released (evade throttle or bond two DSL lines)

tom-mlppp-0.···1.7z.zip 2,798,404 bytes
Multi-link Tomato, v1.19-mp2-beta1
Here's mp2 beta1.
Please post if you get any problems with it.

Warning: Configuration options have changed. DO NOT remotely upgrade the firmware unless you have manually changed the configuration of you nvram.

a) If you will have access to the GUI after the upgrade, do it and then:
- Go to Basic->Network
- Change "MultiLink PPP" back to the desired value
- Click save

b) If you will not have access to the GUI
BEFORE upgrading:
- Add the wan_mru nvram entry. You can set it to the same value as wan_mtu.
- Add the default wan interface (usually vlan1) to pppoe_multilink if you want multilink, remove it otherwise.

FOR TEKSAVVY USERS:
If you are using >1 links, the recommended value for the MR(R)U is still 1442. Please set MR(R)U to Manual and enter 1442.

Note: this version has not undergone thourough quality control. Use at your own risk.

Do we need to "Restore Default Configuration" with or without clearing the NVram, when upgrading to this new beta release ?

The instructions given were for if you didn't want to do that.

Awesome job guys! This beta version has solved all the HTTP slowdown problems I had experienced with version 1.19.

Multilink status report is not live. If one connection is disconnected it still shows 2/2 and internet wont work with new beta.

It takes 80 seconds for it to detect a failed link. Did you wait that long?

At the moment no, I may add it.
However, one doesn't want it too low: if the modem reboots, the connection will keep on working as normal once it's back up. That could be less painful then the alternative.

That depends on what you mean by work. Here's a simulated failure:
64 bytes from 206.47.37.1: icmp_seq=11 ttl=243 time=42.2 ms
64 bytes from 206.47.37.1: icmp_seq=12 ttl=243 time=61.3 ms
64 bytes from 206.47.37.1: icmp_seq=84 ttl=242 time=64049.5 ms
[...]

Teksavvy also has to recognize a failure, because for some reason MLPPP didn't plan for allowing one link to indicate that another has failed. That's why 84 took 64 seconds to arrive (I believe).

If you feel this could be better handled, please feel free to make concrete suggestions.

Great firmware DSL_Ricer, Thanks!

Mp2-beta1 is working much better on my wrt54gl with single link mlppp than the mp1 version of the firmware. I've been using beta1 for about 20 hours and I am getting 590K/second on a torrent right now using single link mlppp.

I just tested it. Your correct a little while after it syncs connection is reestablished.

I tested 2 x 6 Meg Links on WRT54GL clocked at 200Mhz and its able to do 1.0Megs/sec. The WRT54GL can be clocked to 240mhz with no cooling just open case.

i've been using it for a few days now with 2x6meg and it seems to work just fine. i can dl solidly on utorrent at about 1.2mb/s.

that said, how do you overclock it? i've seen people mention it but i'd love to know how it's done.

nvram set clkfreq=XXX
nvram commit
reboot

But you can only go certain speeds.

Word of Warning! I am not responsible for anyone who bricks their routers ! I've seen some lock up at 216mhz.
I am lucky and mine is clocking very high but I took it out of the plastic case and its well ventelated in my cool basement.

I just found out you can add an SD/MMC card to router...
