| Re: Whats With The World Of Warcraft Lag? As i'm not a OOL customer, i do experience this lag as well. I've called ATT - sent a message to the ATT direct forum here, spoken with Level 3 who is a peering partner of both ATT and TimeWarner. The response?
Blizzard didnt buy enough bandwidth, so the increased latency is due from their server(s). If you can get someone to run a reverse tracert - you'll see the issues.
that link shows the realm list by data centers. LA is impossible, but Seattle is fine. Midwest is horrible, but boston is near pefect. try connecting to another realm and see if you lag as bad. -- The more you talk, the less you listen.

1 edit | Re: Whats With The World Of Warcraft Lag? Whomever you spoke to at AT&T who told you that Blizzard didnt buy enough bandwidth was obviously making up excuses to get rid of you. It's easy for everyone to point the finger somewhere else. I have a backup Covad DSL connection that has absolutely no lag problems. If you check the Blizzard tech support forums, you will see that there is definitely a problem with OOL. | |

| Re: Whats With The World Of Warcraft Lag? i dont believe them at all either, but do a return tracert from the questionable server at hand - and you'll see the latency from them to you. for myself, my latency is 100ms-125ms which is normal for west coast transit. now coming back to me, the latency starts at the server with 300-400ms. | |

| Mob,hate to disagree but you're wrong about the boston datacenter! I am altar of storms in the boston center and my ping is unplayable, in the 800 to 1000 range when the spike happens. It has been that way for about 2 weeks now. I live less than 2 miles from the hicksville node for ool so it certainly isn't my early routing to the backbone causing the issue. -- Cleverly Disguised As A Responsible Adult! | |
