| [CATV] HD resolution
I know that networks such as ABC broadcast in 720p and others such as CBS send 1080i. My question is; how does Insight send that signal to us? Do they pass it through or convert everything to 720p? Specifically, I live in the Columbus, Ohio area and have a Motorola DCT6412 III DVR box.

I don't know how it is sent to us, but I do know that the Cable Box will only output at the resolution that you tell it to. It's in the settings menu that you can access by pressing the menu button on the remote while the box is turned off.

| reply to pbh_pick Most High Def TVs have a function button called (or something called or similarly meaning)"Display". This will typically show the resolution setting on the TV as well as the channel info.
Mine does this on both my HDTVs which are different models. |

| reply to pbh_pick Generally the signal will be native. Your cable box can be set to output at a fixed resolution or a native mode that should pass it through.
Basically you choose where you want the conversion to the TV's preferred resolution to happen, or let the TV handle it.
The best choice depends on your gear. |
