No problems with shuffling of channels, things still record as they should. And my guide data has always been populated on the day the channel is added. Seriously, I don't know what is worse, the comcast people chiming in whenever something doesn't work correctly, or the Tivo people. "Another reason to get Tivo,"blah blah blah... Who cares? |

Obviously you. Otherwie you wouldn't have responded to the post. But I'm also a Comcast person, TiVo person and FiOS person. I have all four FiOS/Verizon services, Comcast TV, and seven TiVos(3 Series 3, 4 TiVoHD) connected to FiOS, Comcast and OTA signals. |

| Sorry to keep off topic but this is a FIOS forum not a Tivo forum. It is like having a Ford Car forum trolled with Chevy salesmen or saleswomen. Telling people to get a Tivo is irrelevant. It is not cost effective to me and a lot of other people. What does Tivo have to do with "FiOS TV to add 27 new HD channels in July"? Nothing, so why do people with Tivo always feel the need to tell people to get a tivo. I am sure it is a great product, but I am not paying a monthly fee for it. I just want VZ to fix the product I am already paying for and for the most part they are.
Sorry about that. Maybe I am just cranky because I want me HDTV. |

It's been 7 years since I started recording and watching HD and I'm still waiting for more HD content. The sooner analog is gone the better.
And you are already paying a monthly fee if you use a FiOS STB. I would just rather pay a fee to use a box that I know works well instead of for one I know doesn't work very well( at least when those two boxes are compared. If you comapare the Motorola to a Scientific Atlanta box, then they are both bad. At least from my experience and the people I know that use the Motorola and SA boxes).
Anyway back on topic. I got an automated call this evening from FiOS that mentioned them getting rid of the Analog channels next month and adding more channels later. They didn't give me a specific date though. |

| I agree, people who expected certain channels to be broadcasting/cablecasting in HD by now, and those channels are still SD only, are unhappy. But, more channels are coming, soon, both SD and HD. And, by the end of this year or early next (an excruciatingly long time for some), there will be even more than that. Enabling the FIOS DVRs and STBs to go to 2,000 channels means that they are serious about that. Still, there will always be folks that will complain that they can't watch the Chinese Checkers Channel or the Nude Needlepoint Network (In HD, of course).
I really like HD. However, there are many people, and I am one of them, who won't forsake a favorite show just because it's in SD, although I am a bit more picky. When I watch an older show, i try to record only the episodes that I really want to see again. But, the generic descriptions in the guide- "Magnum PI. A former Naval officer agrees to provide security for a millionaire in exchange for living on his estate while doing private investigation work on the side" as the IMG says- offers very little help.
I like many things, both old and new, But, even if they offer many channels I don't or won't watch, I'm sure that there are other people who will. That is the real power of FIOS, offering something for everyone.
So, although I'm not into the roar of the crowd and crack of the bat or hushed tones and fairway action, others may not be into watching Deep Purple in concert from 1968, Columbo from 1974 or Blade Runner from 1983. Mark F |

You're confusing two different events. There's the OTA shut-off for analog that's happening in Feb. But that doesn't effect cable. Verizon is getting rid of its own analog channels. That's going on right now. For example, in the Philly area, we're set to lose our analogs next week.
At the same time, Verizon is expanding the bandwidth for their TV feed. We (again, in the Philly area) should be getting these new channels (hopefully) in August. |
