1 edit | Billable Usage appears to Start Today (June 4) Based on changes on the Rogers Usage page and the following anonymous gem I just received, it would appear that if your billing cycle starts today or thereafter, your usage is measured and billable at the start of your next billing cycle.
quote: For invoices prior to July 3, 2008, we will refund any additional use charges. Invoices created after July 3 will have actual additional use charges from your previous month of service. Your first billable usage period and your first bill with usage charges will depend on your billing period. For example, if your billing period ends on the 10th of each month, your July 10 invoice will have usage charges for the usage period from June 11 to July 10.

Yes it's changed on my account too. Now, does the usage dates shown reflect your billing period? Meaning if your billing period is the 10th to the 10th does the usage show the 10th to the 10th or does it show the 1st to the month end for everyone? -- Intel P4 2.8 800 fsb, Asus P4P800 w/1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, 512 MB GeForce 7600GT, SB Audigy Gamer, DVD-Rom/CD-R Burner & LG Duel layer DVD Burner, 320 & 120 GB Internal & 2x 250 & 3x 500 GB External hard drives & Samsung 226BW 22" LCD Monitor |
|
 | My billing period is 8th to 7th, and that's how it shows in my usage. |
|
 | reply to sbrook Ah, now the fun begins. How long, I wonder, until their usage monitor breaks, and somebody gets an undeserved bill. |
|
 | reply to sbrook So I log in and the disclaimer at the bottom reads:
NOTE: Depending on your billing period you may be charged the above amount (up to a maximum of $25)* on your next invoice. Please visit our additional use FAQ page for more information.
* There is no maximum additional use charge for Ultra-Lite and Lite customers who signed up before January 14, 2008.
When did the January 14 thing sneak in? WTF does Rogers think they are pulling? |
|
 | Nevermind.
I read it as 'AND customers who signed up before January 14, 2008' and thought that it applied to all customers instead of just the grandfathered Ultra-Lite and Lite.
My bad. |

 | reply to sbrook So......has anyone actually been successful ensuring their June invoice (invoice prior to July 3) actually does have additional charges refunded!? Is it necessary to phone Rogers and fight with them to get the refund....or are they applying the refund automatically on the bill?
I'd have thought there would be people who had already experienced this. My billing date is June 28 and I'd love to know of I'm going to have to waste time phoning and arguing with Rogers or if the bill will automatically be as described below.....

 | reply to sbrook Anyone else having problems with the usage amounts? They seem a little padded compared to my Azureus stats. |

If you want more accurate tracking and only have one computer, download a program like NetMeter, or if you have multiple computers get a router that can run Tomato or DD-WRT they can log the WAN usage. -- ,,!,,('-'),,!,, |

 | reply to sbrook I just got billed for 14 GB from June 3rd to July 2nd. Seems the the website was misleading as usual.
All they are doing is billing you a month late. It's not a free month. |

mordin42 inches of 1080pPremium join:2005-05-28 Moncton, NB | That's odd as we just got our bill this week and it also shows Junes usage and we didn't get billed and I was definitely over.
Also if you have separate bills you will be billed for usage 1 month behind but if you have a single bill for all services you will be billed 2 months behind. -- Intel P4 2.8 800 fsb, Asus P4P800 w/1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, 512 MB GeForce 7600GT, SB Audigy Gamer, DVD-Rom/CD-R Burner & LG Duel layer DVD Burner, 320 & 120 GB Internal & 2x 250 & 3x 500 GB External hard drives & Samsung 226BW 22" LCD Monitor |

 | reply to sbrook Be ware of ROgers billing practice. They fleece VIP (very ignorant persons). Whenever, I bring my service down my next month bill went up. Most complicated billing too. here is my post from another thread:
Worst customer service in my life. They don't even treat you like a customer. They act like a big-bully monopoly (which they are). I have come across several problems as Rogers customer (I have been with them for 10+ years). I pay around $130 / month (used to be $160 + when I had their cell phone too). Few days back I ran into internet provblems (frequent drops and slow down). I called 3 times each time waiting for about 10-15 minutes. Each time after going back and forth I either get dropped or put back in the queue. I have decided to leave Rogers for good. They were giving me VIP (very idiotic person) treatment so far :-(.
I am switching to Bell/Telus/Acanac for my phone/cell/DSL/cable. Hell with Teddy even if have to endure hardship with others. |

»www.thestar.com/Business/article/500445 "An Ontario judge has ruled that .... their bills amounted to a criminal rate of interest." This goes beyond Bell, said Paul DeWolf, If this ruling holds, a lot of companies are going to have to reassess their positions. A spokesperson for Rogers said the cable giant charges a similar $25 fee and is "reviewing" the Bell decision."
LOL, in other words our nice Canadian Telco's are engaged in business practices equivalent to loan sharking. Let's see now, rogers wireless+spam = %25 pure gouging. Overages on Internet = $25. Fees Fees Fees and let us not forget the good old discount for which you pay part of.
The sad part is that the CRTC and the government have absolutely no clue and are nowhere to be found and the customers are left to defend themselves with class actions suits that take years.
It's time for the government to wake up and protect the consumers with a law similar to Bill C-555 for Internet, Wireless, Cable and Satellite. -- It's all... part of the plan. |
