Fix for ugly DSL filter hanging in middle of wall?

The phone-line plug in the kitchen came with a spot to hang a wall phone. For the past few months, the DSL filter is just hanging there in the middle of the wall, as the current phone is not on the wall, nor is the base unit "useable" with it on the wall. My DSL installation pack came with a filter for "install phone on the wall," but I have no idea where it is, or if I still have the device.

Is there a line RJ11 on one end and a female connector on the other that I can put on there. In other words, put a cord in wall, then connect the filter, then connect the phone? If such a connector exists, I can then hang a decorative textile or small wall quilt in the area to hide the plug.

Yes, I know I can purchase a filter for wall phone, but I am guessing that if the cord I want exists, it will cost a lot less.

Call the dsl help line you may be able to convince the rep to ship a wall phone filter or a dual port microfilter to you free of any charges.

Or maybe I don't understand

You understood. I don't think AT&T is going to ship anything to me "free."

Best solution is to install a whole house filter (POTS filter, NID filter), and run a separate unfiltered line direct from the NID to your modem.

If I understand what you are looking for, you could buy a phone line coupler (~$3-5 at Home Depot or WalMart) and plug a phone line into it.

I do have a phone line coupler (I searched Google) and it just plugs into wall, and the DSL filter will still hang in middle of the wall).

What I was describing has two female jacks and you would plug one end of a longer cord into one jack and then other cord end into the wall and plug the microfilter into the other jack of the coupler. Then all you have to do is hide the phone cord hanging from the wall.

If you have nothing connected there remove the filter, it should have no effect on the dsl.

How about this? It's not free, but it's less than $5.

Second the motion to install a filter at the NID. I did that when DSL was installed and now have exactly one other filter working, the filter on the computer line at my desk for the phone there.

Why not? My girlfriend has AT&T DSL and part of her install package was a wall mount DSL filter.

They might. They sent me a wall phone filter in my welcome kit. Maybe they can send one to you.

I don't think they shouldn't send you anything for free, you lost it.

My sister had this same issue. I just took the face plate off the wall jack and shoved the filter with a little bit of line in the box and put the face plate back on. Of course I made the wires look good but to this day its still like that.

Are you just looking for a wall mount filter? I can get you one ordered if that's the case.

Is your wiring as ugly as any of this stuff?

Recently I assisted a new user with a install the self install kit was a 2wire kit it did not contain a wall mount filter, the quick install guide had a 1-800 number to call to request a wall mount filter.

Is a wall mount filter included with the motorola 2210 self install kit

This is silly. Those filters are a dime a dozen. I've got one sitting in a box that I'm never going to use. PM me a shipping address and I'll drop it in a USPS priority padded envelope.
