Only if your a new sub and want the absolute cheapest price on the equipment, since T-Mobile does offer 1 year contracts with new acts. If you already have service it's just a 1 year extension.

Or if you don't already have service you can also get this as a monthly Flexpay account and have no contract, unlimited service and use it on the entire network. This option (as stated by a post below) just means you have to pay the unsubsidized price of the phone itself (and your first months bill, upfront).

T-Mobile is a distant 3rd to Verizon & AT&T so they had to do something to get free advertising. To tell you the truth, I thought AT&T would have done this first as a promotion with the iphone 3-g coming out soon but t-mobile got there first.
