anon : I'm a Libertarian and former Democrat who obviously shares a lot of the same social views as Democrats, and even I have to say that the Dems are fucking up. The two parties don't stand for anything they did 20 years ago. Bipartisan politics mean nothing, as it's becoming a unified "big brother" government where they're enacting more social and fiscal control and taking away more and more of our liberties every day. It's almost like the Republicans and Democrats are giving themselves a pat on the back every time they agree on another piece of legislation, ignoring the fact that they're just both agreeing to fuck us.

This sickens me in a way I find almost indescribable. The internet is probably the defining moment of my generation and is accelerating social change and expanding personal liberties far beyond any other "movement" where people have access to information, and the corporations don't like that. It's gone largely unchecked and I feel like now that large corporations realize how much money is to be made in the regulation of it, they're paying politicians to make it happen. Disgusting.

anon : Like the other's said, it is Congress and not the White House that really run things. The news loves to point at the White House because it is easier for us to blame one person with a face rather than 500+ seemingly faceless people. That person could be Bush, Clinton, Homer Simpson, "insert name here". Doesn't seem to matter who really. It is simple psychology to do so because our minds can wrap around that one person. Think of it like screaming at the ISP rep for all the mess ups on your network connection. Do you really think that rep sits there all day long like Dogbert hitting the Big Shinny Red "tick off user #42" button? As long as $$$ drives things, it will only get worse. I only remember one day where Congress actually seemed to be sane or moral and it took the two towers falling to make that happen...

Sad... so very sad.

Knowledge is power, keep revealing the facts all!
