Not a LAN connection? If so I dont think you can connect a router/switch to the unit to add additional users. Only LAN is via wireless.

So, if I get the Alltel Huawei EC228, and hook it up to the cyfre router via the USB cable, can I then hook the one LAN port on the cyfre to my Linksys WRT54G router (which has 4 ethernet ports) and keep using my inhouse LAN wired outputs as well as the wireless outputs on it, as I presently have them hooked up via the satellite modem HN7000S)? Or, would I have to get 4 wireless adapters for my desktops and run them from the cyfre? Just looking at the least expensive, and my Linksys router has been working almost flawlessly for a couple years now. Appreciate the info. Regards

I am trying to escape from Hughes satellite and am an Alltel phone customer. I went to the local office and looked at the HUAWEI 228 modem (aircard). I have 4 computers running through Linksys WRT54G router, combination of wired and wireless ports, using Cat 5 cables and WUSB54G wireless card. Alltel wants to sell me a cyfre 3G router for $250. Problem is that it is all outputs are wireless. I can't seem to find a router that will take the USB output from the HUAWEI EC228 and give me a combination of wired and wireless outputs. You have any suggestions or further information? Thanks

It works very well together. Only issue I have experienced is when I upgrade the firmware of the MBR-1000 and it resets to factory defaults. They also changed the default password from the SSID # to the last 6 digits of the MAC address. After this was taken care of I have experienced no problems again. I did not have to change any settings on the UM150 to get it to work. I've had my UM150 from ALLTEL for about 30 days and very happy with speeds/service. My girlfriend recently purchased a laptop and we wanted to share the UM150 but changing the cards between the two laptops got old very quickly. We looked at several routers however every time we tried using the ALLTEL card we always had problems in getting the router to recognized the ALLTEL card. I started looking in some of the other forums on here (Sprint/Verizon) and found a company by the name of Assent Wireless whom manufactures a little box called the MBR-100. We decided to give this a try as the price was very reasonable. ($129 + shipping)

We ordered through one of their distributors (Millenicom) and had the box arrive in two days. Once I received it I tried using my UM150 with it and encountered the same problem I had before...it didn't seem to work.

I called Assent Wireless left a message and within 30 minutes got a call back. Their tech support had explained that ALLTEL uses some specific settings and they walked me through changing does. Within minutes I was ONLINE through my router!!! I'm kind of curious now if that was the problem all along with the other routers we had tried. Anyhow I am extremely happy with the router and the service Assent Wireless provided.
