| [Other] Unable to connect via PPPoE with Trendnet router
Hi all... I'm hoping someone will able to help me figure out a problem I'm having with my Trendnet router.
I very recently switched from Rogers (cable) to Teksavvy (DSL) as my ISP. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP wireless router (v4.0 firmware) I've been using for about a year without any problems during the time I was with Rogers.
Now that I've switched to DSL, I find that I can't get the router to connect via PPPoE. I've entered the proper login credentials, but when I check the router log, it just keeps recording a 'connection failed' message with no further details on why it fails. I can reach the router's configuration page
When I plug the network cable directly to my PC and setup a connection using XP's built-in PPPoE client, it connects without a problem. So I know the DSL connectivity itself via the modem is fine.
I've restarted the dsl modem, the router, and my PC a few times and the problem persists. FYI I've also turned off the wireless capability of the router for the time being and simply using it with a wired connection while I'm troubleshooting this issue.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? |

Are these correct? |

| Thanks for that little tidbit of information - you started me on the right path i.e. I had to setup my modem via its copnfiguration page to bridged mode.
What confused me initially was that this is the first time I've had to make this correction. I set up my parents' internet with the same ISP and the same exact modem and theirs worked with the router out of the box. And before that, when I used to be with Bell years ago, I don't recall having to make any changes to the dsl modem settings themselves and it worked either through a router or plugged directlly to the NIC of a PC.
Anyway, everything's up and running now. All's well that ends well, as they say. |
