EU | Hostage of Comodo Firewall Pro Hi,
I'm desperately trying to get rid of Comodo Firewall (3.0.25.368 on Vista, as I write: good firewall overall, I just don't need it anymore), but every time I uninstall it (with Revo in Advanced mode) and remove its countless traces (as described here), my network card (Atheros L2 Fast Ethernet) won't connect to the internet until I give up and reinstall the firewall. The problem doesn't seem to affect the wireless adapter, though.
Any ideas on how to permanently get rid of it? |

Why using third party removal tool? What happens if you remove via Add/Remove progs? What happens then, what are the error messages with network card, if any?

There aren't error messages, the network tray icon just shows a yellow triangle (limited connectivity) instead of the regular blue/green planet.
@get the rebels: I didn't ask at the official forums, as similar problems were extensively debated in various threads, but the instructions didn't help in my case... |

EU | Yep, I tried configuring it both ways: 1) IP/DNS assigned by the router, and 2) user defined IPs with router's DHCP turned off. If Comodo is installed, it works both ways, otherwise the situation won't change, no matter how I set up the card... |

BTW, the weird thing is that the 1st time (e.g. when i Disable/Enable the card or I reboot Vista) it allows me to (sometimes partially) open a web page, then the icon changes and shows the dreaded yellow triangle, locking me out of the net. |

Could be a shot in the dark. But, have you tried uninstalling it in safe mode? |

Have you tried removing Comodo and then when your network card won't work, go into the device manager and delete the card from the system (don't physically remove it)? Then reboot the computer and let it find the new device and install the drivers for it. The uninstall process could be screwing the driver setup and that might fix it. I've seen it happen on XP, no reason that it couldn't occur on Vista as well.

Shot in the dark here but:
1) Is UAC turned off while you are removing Comodo using Revo?
2) I believe with the uninstall the Vista firewall reenables itself. Have you tried disabling this after the uninstall
Maybe you've tried these...just hadn't seen them mentioned yet. Cudni's response above mine is also a good next step

@GadgetsRme: yes, uninstalled the card and re-installed the driver, but nothing changed, unfortunately.
@tmaertin: 1) I left the UAC enabled, but Revo runs with admin privileges... I could play the UAC card, nonetheless. Thanks 2) The Vista Firewall is still disabled

Go into your services menu and stop/disable Comodo firewall before you try the un-install. I use Comondo, and that is how I remove it from Vista Ultimate x64; removed completely without problems.......... Hope this helps |
