Re: AVG 8 link scanner causes Firefox to crash?

For AVG Free 8 on Internet Explorer, I did the following:

-Disable Link Scanner in AVG.

-Set AVG tray icon to force-hide so I'm not staring at that ugly error-state icon (Right-Click over taskbar, select "Properties", then click "Customize" button under the "Taskbar" sheet).

-Disable AVG Safe-Surf addon for Internet Explorer (ALT key, Tools menu/Internet Options, change to "Programs" sheet, click "Manage Add-Ons" button, find and disable AVG SafeSurf dll).

I'm beginning to see things the same way as the other poster who thinks this is unacceptable bloat and it's time to switch. Yes, some people need this kind of supervision or they'll destroy a computer in less than six months (I've worked on one like this a couple times). But for those of us who don't want it, the feature should be clealy, easily, and completely disabled or removed without having to jump through hoops.

AVG is losing sight of what made their product good.
