1 edit | Is there a way to block ads inside Flash?
»www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp···25000117 from »www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24999650 (an amazing story too).
I noticed it had ads. Is there a way to block these ads (at the bottom) inside Flash like we do wwith ad blocker? |

| reply to antdude If you want to watch their content the ads come with it sorry to say. A lot of sites doing that now, you have to pay the bill's. -- "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is." |

I tend to block a lot of ads with Web pages. Hopefully, someone can find a way to do the same for Flash. -- Ant @ »antfarm.ma.cx and »aqfl.net. Please do not IM/e-mail me for technical support. | reply to antdude Although I am not sure which Privoxy filter is doing it, or if I am just insanely lucky, I don't often see those ads inserted into a flash video.
Normally the only site I go to with such ads is the escapist--gotta love Zero Punctuation--and I don't see their ads. I also didn't see any on the link provided. There was also one other site where privoxy clearly blocked an ad, but it was loaded from doubleclick prior to the actual video I had wanted to watch. All I got a blank player for a while. -- Think outside the fox...Seamonkey |

Interesting. That gets me an idea. I should use a sniffer to see what this MSN video is downloading.

Orbit's GrabIt detected and downloaded (25000117 -- always a different number for each reload/refresh):
»www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp···25000117) and others (mostly media playlists).
I saw a few ads-related ones like: this.setId=function(s){s=s.replace(/root1/,"");This.adRef=s+"/adMC";};
I only needed to find keywords and/or domains related to ads. Oh well! -- Ant @ »antfarm.ma.cx and »aqfl.net. Please do not IM/e-mail me for technical support. Use the forum! Disclaimer: The views expressed in this posting are mine, and do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer |

| reply to antdude Same stuff with Yahoo news, the streams are contiguous. I've found, though, that Yahoo will often stream 2 or 3 stories between 15 second commercials rather than between every story.
It's even worse than TV - -- If dogs travel in space at the speed of light, do they reach their destination in dog-light years? |
