 | Zoominternet's been down all day! I'm not sure how long the service has been down, but I know it's now been down for over 12 hours.
I finally called Armstrong and was told they had 2 fiber cuts. One in NY and another in PA; no other info. They gave me some garbage about how ATT cellular and a bunch of other services were down due to the cut. This made no sense to me, because I work at one of the baby bells and my office is at a switching station. From what I've been told about my office, half the internet traffic on the east coast goes though us and there was no notice of any fiber cuts. When I left the office today, all the techs were just sitting around or just making updates to connections. No word of any fiber cut and all was running well. Plus, my ATT cell phone was working just fine.
Basically, I'm saying that Armstong was feeding me crap. In fact, last year, I got to speak with the guy in charge of Armstrong's network and was that that they were completely on their own setup; all the way to Butler, PA, but in the past, they were on MCI's network to their POP in Butler.
Ain't it funny how, I'm assuming here, that these poor Armstrong reps are told it's a fiber cut that's effecting all carriers in the area but I only see a problem with their network? Plus, if it was outside of their network, I should have been assigned a IP address from their DHCP server, but I can't even get an IP assigned.
I felt sorry for the guy, when I questioned him hard, but I don't feel they should lie to their customers.
Anyone else on Armstong Zoom not able to use their internet service?
BTW, I'm only online because I've got a Verizon Wireless card. Sure is nice to always have a backup. | | | Yeah our internet and phone were both out for well over 12 hours around this same time frame. TV was OK. Looked like it went down around 7.00AM restored about 12 - 14 hours later. | | rawgerzThe hell was that?Premium join:2004-10-03 Grove City, PA | reply to crabjoe They use Sprint as a backbone, not a baby bell unless that backbone is now Embarq. Fiber cuts happen. Just a few years ago anyone Ohio and over was cut off to the East coast as I remember.
I remember one time when someone took out a power pole and was without power for at least 12 hours. When I drove past, once all the Pennpower guys left to pick it up in the morning mind you, Armstrong's line was back up. I think that says a lot considering anyone past that pole had no power, and couldn't use their service.
Maybe the next time it happens you can ask for a discount on your bill. --
You can't make all the people happy all of the time. But it should be common sense to shoot for the majority. | |
