[ActionTec] Actiontec DSL Modem and Belkin Access Point

I have a Actiontec, wireless dsl modem, and I have a directv and I am trying to use a belkin router as an access point to hook up the directv to. However I can't seem to make it work. Does the actiontec allow this?

I go to the belkin router and turn on Access point and enter in the default ip of the dsl modem router, however it doesn't work. Do I need to change anything else? Like the belkin SSID name and channel and such?

Is there a detailed website with information on this, cause I can't find anything with actiontec on it.

All IP address must be unique..

For example if the actiontec is set up with an
lan IP address 192.168.1.254 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
then IP address of access point can be a number 192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.253.

Note: (Addresses ending with 0 and 255 have special functions.)

Directv box should be assigned a unique IP address within that range.
