Ohio theater summer movie series

I just have to share this for our central Ohio folks and visitors - we've been members of CAPA since its inception in 1973 when I first toured the then un-restored and dilapidated old theater with Mary Bishop, who successfully drove the project to save and restore the theater.

The Ohio Theater in Columbus Ohio is a great place for movies. The amazing lush restoration of this 1927 theater, its comfortable seats and pre-show theater organist playing the big ol' Morton theater organ are easily worth the admission even without the movie.

A strip of ten tickets is $21.50 plus ticketmaster's $1.50 cut - or you can buy them with no surcharge at the box office if you're downtown anytime from 9AM-5PM.

Parking at the State House garage across from the theater is $3.00 for 0-4 hours weekday evenings, $2.00 for 0-4 hours weekend evenings. See here for parking information. As (relatively) inexpensive as parking is, you could go early for dinner. Note that weekdays during business hours the garage is usually full, so come after five to get a spot. You can enter going west on State Street from east of the theater, or East on Broad Street from High street or west thereof. Google Maps is accurate.

Ticketmaster link to 10 ticket strips: link here.

I went with my best friend and his wife (fiancee at the time) to see The Wizard of Oz at the Ohio during the summer series. Other than the movie of course, I particularly enjoyed the pre-show cartoons, classic Merry Melodies just before the feature reel!

If you live in, spend time in, or plan to visit Columbus at all this Summer, this is a lot of fun.
