Is brighthouse networks a subset of TWC customer base in FL or is it accessible to all TWC customers?

If it's not, why this verbage?

"Bright House Networks Road Runner connection."
Bright House is a separate cable company. It was created a few years back when Time-Warner Cable was trying to acquire a bunch of other franchises. As a condition of that purchase, they were forced to divest certain markets. They are not part of Time Warner - but are serviced by Road Runner. Same thing with certain markets/franchises owned by Insight.

I would suggest that anyone that feels tw is attempting to take advantage of them contact »newyork.bbb.org . I just filed my complaint with them regarding this issue.
Any particular reason why a Wisconsin resident would file a complaint with the New York BBB? Wouldn't your own local BBB chapter be better?
Nope. You file the complaint in the state where the company is located.

I checked [Bright House Web Site] earlier.

Areas we serve....

[BLANK]

in FF3 and IE7.

I was just looking for a quick answer, for curiosity's sake.
It's in flash, and works fine here in both browsers so you might want to check your plugins. Tampa Bay, Central Florida, Wellington and the FL Panhandle/Birmingham AL. Also Bakersfield, CA, Indianapolis and Detroit.

Call and complain, call and complain, call and complain...

The number is on your bill. All of RR's competitors offer some form of newsgroup access at NO cost: Verizon FIOS or dial-up, Earthlink high-speed or dial-up, Sprint, and AT&T DSL and fiber. ALL of them.

Make sure to state how dismayed you are about not receiving any email, mail or any other form of notification of the discontinuation of a service that RR has provided for nearly a decade.

If you're serious about newsgroups, make the call and stop whining. Once you've made the call, feel free to whine and complain as much as you wish, as I have taken the liberty to myself.

If your going to attempt to sound smart, at least get the HQ right:

Time Warner CABLE Inc.
290 Harbor Dr
Stamford, CT 06902
(203) 328-0600‎
Wikipedia Article:
»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Warner_Cable

Time Warner Cable is a public company now:

Further, Filing with the BBB in CT wont get very far usually, since your DIVISION HQ is usually located in your state.

I've just found this forum and have been working my way through the threads. I found your quote from ALGORE the one statment he has made that I can agree with, and I do agree with the greater amount of what you have posted, but you must realize that ALGORE doesn't even come close to entertaining the thought you quote when it comes to his sacred cow, global warming and the destruction of the Western lifestyle that now China and India are in a position to emulate. I hate the prospect of having to change ISPs, but I feel I must. Quality of service & cost has been getting worse and worse since they put the fiber in to the lake, so it's not just the NGs. BTW, I don't download porn or stolen movies or software. With as much crap as the cretins put in those to get you, only a real cheap-ass fool would.

If you actually go through the web complaint form, it'll ask your for the company phone number, name, city, and/or state. It'll then give a list of companies they have listed in their database to choose from. After you choose from that list, they'll show you which BBB chapter to file the complaint with. Yours may be listed above, although I'm not sure as there are over a dozen different listings for TWC in the Milwaukee, WI area.

But like the BBB website says:
said by BBB website :
BBB strongly encourages consumers to first attempt to resolve complaints directly with the company, however BBB will not reject a complaint if a consumer has not taken this step. All complaints are processed by local BBBs, most often the BBB where the company is located.
Complain to the company FIRST to see what resolution they can come up with. With TWC, they'll usually offer a credit or discounted rate for awhile. If you aren't happy with that, then go to the BBB.

Well if you do a Google search for Newsgroup servers. I am sure you can find at least a couple of FREE UseNet newsgroup servers.

This is just another form of big corporation controlling our lives and freedoms.

I am so looking forward to either U-Verse or FIOS being available in the Centerville, Ohio area. Why does it take them so long to bring these technologies online?

Getting rid of a little used service is controlling your life and your freedom? Possibly one of the funniest things I read all day!

"I am so looking forward to either U-Verse or FIOS being available in the Centerville, Ohio area."

I thought Verizon just canned all the groups everyone wanted.

Re: [TWC] Road Runner Newsgroups Discontinued

I personally find TWC's decision to be TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS!

And to top it off now I am beginning to hear about bandwidth caps as well? TWC is nothing more than a bunch of scum sucking pigs.

I stopped using the "adult" porn groups months ago - I rarely looked at them anyhow, but I do not think it is TWC's place to decide what I or others can and cannot look at if it is legal. TO me I always counted on the newsgroups for LEARNING purposes, you know, like programming advice, software useage forums like flight sim, etc etc etc.

I am totally outraged by this move by TWC, and to add insult to injury, it doesn't appear that they'll be compensating for this service many of us have relied on for so long.
Have you actually contacted RR about this issue?

According to several posters in this thread, they're getting credits and discounted services after calling RR and complaining.

Usenet service has been as much a part of provisioned Internet services as email. I first started using it in 1989, at a time when it was impractical to post binaries on Usenet. It was the first truly worldwide open system for Internet messaging. It is an amazing global information resource, and the moderated newsgroups are important forums for discussion and information exchange. I have friends who have read and contributed to discussions on ALT.REC.GUNS for a decade or two and would consider anyone who would do away with Usenet a dangerous control freak.

Keep in mind that using Usenet to transfer copyrighted binaries is a relatively recent phenomenon. Much earlier, anonymous FTP sites were the preferred way of moving files around, and before that pirate Bulletin Board Systems were employed. Today we have P2P software, IRC, IM clients, email attachments and countless other ways to transfer binary files. All can be used to pirate stuff if the user has a mind to, but does that automatically condemn it to being a frivolous extravagance that should be taken away from everyone just because it can be misused?

I sure hope not. As the saying goes, "Don't throw out the baby with the bath water."
