| Comcast volume problems in Atlanta...
Forgive the cross-post please...
Has anyone noticed that volume of commercials on Comcast (especially on the History Channel and TrueTV) seems significantly louder than the show volume? Is this just an Atlanta thing or is it national?
It seems like they've made some policy changes recently to how they manage their volume levels... -- The early bird may get the worm, but the second rat gets the cheese. |

| generally as a standard commercials are always louder than the shows. This was originally designed to allow people that "get up" during commercials to still hear them while in other rooms. Depending on how comcast does the commercial insertion and if you have analog or digital cable also has some bearing on this. If they are doing digital simulcast like I have in Norcross they are likely doing the insertions in IP which makes volume adjustments difficult. With analog insertion gear you have a "dial" to tweak on IP you don't it's a pure stream with no real effective means to tweak it. |

| I've always seen this to a limited extent on most systems / channels, but it just seems much more pronounced than usual. I have a digital on all the TV's in my house. My wife and I seem to have noticed this change in about the last two weeks or so.

| In the past I've seen instances where the local commercial's volumes are dramtically different than the national commercials, but this seems to be across the board (at least on those channels, which leads me to belive it's a network decision) - they all seem extra loud. -- The early bird may get the worm, but the second rat gets the cheese. |

| reply to xpkranger I certainly have noticed that. I also notice that when I watch Sports South, I have to turn the volume up in order to hear it. Typically I keep my volume on 20 but watching Sports South and a few other channels I can't think of right now, I have to turn it up to 25. It's annoying as hell. |
