I've been using usenet since 1988 when taking a High School computer programming class.
Most people use newsgroups for access to so-called "pirated" material, including TV shows (gasp! the VCR must be illegal too), fonts, movies, etc...
When calling my TW Road Runner rep to complain - guess what - she had never even heard of usenet. ISP tech support rep that has NEVER heard of usenet? Wow. Nuts. Anyhow she says TW will be shutting down usenet access on 23 June 2008.
Looks like torrents for me from now on. | |
