1 edit | Uverse in Algonquin
Hey Guys, I was reading the announcement someone posted a while back, and saw Algonquin on the list of cities to be getting Uverse. I am buying a home located on rte 25\62, but the address came up as not available.
Does anyone have Uverse in Algonquin, or are they still "working" on deploying it there?
Thanks! |

| reply to xtlosx 62 and 25? The VRAD's are in, but not lit up yet apparently. I live back off Glacier by Presidential Park and I've been waiting for it to go live as well
If you drive around you see the VRADS all over....just a matter of time I guess. -- My Blog. Because I desperately need the acknowledgement of others.

| reply to xtlosx Well, the home have placed an offer on, is actually at 62 and Lake.. Right before Randall....
I didn't notice or actually look for the VRADS when I was out there yesterday.
So it's just a waiting game right now eh?

Keep us posted if anyone gets service! |

| There have been rumors spread around the garage that will install Algonquin (the garage I work out of) when it goes green as to why it has not gone green yet.
I do not think I am at liberty to discuss. But know that many VRADs have been placed, and service is coming soon.
"I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" -- Well, maybe not that serious, but at the same time, I think it is best to leave it at AT&T is working to bring service to Algonquin. |

| reply to xtlosx The pain in the butt situation is.. I need broadband for work, and I work mainly out of the house.... ATT uverse still is showing no signs of life in Algonquin, at all!! I called, and my address was actually only available for 768\768 which is rather lousey.. I figured maybe i'd just go with att dsl and upgrade to uverse when it becomes available, but it seems like the infrastructure sucks in algonquin for att...
DLS is doing the 10mbit wifi and there are two towers right by me... What a tough decision!!! Come on att, hurry up! |

1 edit | I had DLS back in 2003 and they were pretty good, no complaints.
62 and 25 is the fringe of the algonquin CO (over by the main post office), I can barely pull 1.9/512 but it's reliable and cheap for the most part.
The infrastructure doesn't really suck per say....it's just that we've grown to expect more I think out of what it can do. I think 2mb 15k from the CO is pretty impressive actually.
I'd ask what your address is exactly, but if you mean 62 and lake drive right after hanson....i'm kinda surprised 768 is your max, your closer than I am. -- My Blog. Because I desperately need the acknowledgement of others.

| reply to xtlosx essentially if you take algonquin, hang a left on lake, and right there...
They qual'd me for 768\384.. it's unfortunate...
I work in Crystal Lake, and we have the 10\10 wireless and it rocks, real fast.. but i want uverse, such as to get the iptv as well...
but waiting is a pain in the ass.. might just get the att dsl for the first month and deal with it |

@motorola.com | reply to xtlosx I have been waiting also. I am at 62 & Sandbloom. They would only qualify me for 768k DSL. They tore up my whole neighborhood last summer, laying fiber and installing VRADs. Flip the switch already! |

| I think AT&T would LOVE to have the revenue of the Algonquin customers (hence all the VRADs they have installed thru Algonquin -- gotta get some ROI on those babies).
If you are a resident of Algonquin, I advise that you contact your local Village Officers and/or Mayor about U-Verse being made available. Or attend a Village Board meeting and go on record stating that as a resident, you want the service ASAP.
Local Villages and Towns in suburbs across Chicagoland have been fighting various things related to U-Verse. The IL State Video Franchise Law gives local government local Right-of-Way controls thru permitting. So if your town looks like it should be green (has tons of VRADs, powered, that appear ready to go), then at this point you must be an active citizen and inquire to your officials as to what is going on. |

| reply to xtlosx I commented, and sent an email to my village president, and the board, etc... no answers! Bastards, time to go to a village meeting!
Any of the tech have any more news about anything? There is a VRAD in the neighborhood next to me, so i'm hoping things will be good in my location once they give it the green light... |

Completely unrelated, have you tried going to a Village Meeting and going on the record as a resident/citizen of Algonquin in favor of U-Verse? |

1 edit | reply to xtlosx yes, and I have tried emailing\contacting the entire village board about the problem to no response...
I was walking my dog the other day, and there is a nice big vrad in my neighborhood, so things should be great once it's here... it's just not here!
Is there an end in sight? |

| Actually I emailed the village and did get a response...although it seemed a little bit "canned" quote: Dear Mr. Judd - Thank you for your patience. I received a response from my contact at AT&T, Mr. Brad Jensen, today regarding the status of the deployment of their U-Verse product in Algonquin. He informed me that they have installed about 90% of the cabinets scheduled for Algonquin, and he anticipates that they will finishing installing the remainder over the next three months. Anyone who lives within 4,000 feet of the cabinet should either have the product available to their home or will shortly. You can visit the AT&T web site at www.att.com. Do a search on U-Verse. It will prompt you to enter your zip code or part of your telephone number, and will then advise what services that you have available to your home. AT&T is continuing to upgrade their services, and anticipates that those homes in Algonquin that do not currently have the U-Verse service available to them now w ill likely have it accessible some time in the next 2 to 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, they were not able to provide me with more details at this time. Sincerely, Jenna Kollings Assistant Village Manager Algonquin, Illinois
Really that number should be 3000 feed...but hey what do I know. Either way, it was just along way of saying "we don't know, and if we do we won't tell you". -- My Blog. Because I desperately need the acknowledgement of others.

| reply to xtlosx That's fantastic.. right now all I qualify for is 768\384 DSL, which is poor at best... Comcast I guess is my only solution until ATT gets off their ass and gets on this roll-out in Algonquin... for such a small village you would think it shouldn't be that difficult? Then again, what do I know. |

Dennis Premium,Mod join:2001-01-26 Algonquin, IL | Well it might not be AT&T's asses that need to be getting off of. Every town sees the cash cow coming now with these uverse Vrads....so they make them jump through a lot of hoops. |
