| [Update] Opera 9.50 Final Hmm...from RC to final in 24h. They must have been in a hurry.
Here's the announcement:
Almost two years ago I stepped onto a pier in Seattle to unveil Opera 9 to the world. Many things at Opera have changed since then, but our commitment to providing you with a powerful, safe and fast Web experience has not. Since that day we have been hard at work on our next generation browser, code-named Kestrel. I'm pleased to announce that today we are ready to share the fruits of our labor with you.
I invite each of you to try Opera 9.5, arriving very soon. We've worked exceptionally hard during the past two years to make something we're very proud to present to you. We've listened to your feedback, learned from your experiences using our browser, and channeled your input to make our best browser yet.
Opera 9.5 has a brand-new look that feels inspired by high-end audio equipment and Scandinavian design. Our refined address bar allows you to find *any* word on *any* Web page you have visited before. Opera Link allows you to bring your favorite browser with you, wherever you go. You can sync your bookmarks, Speed Dial, and Notes, and work seamlessly with Opera Mini, our award-winning browser for your mobile phone. We protect you against two different types of malware that may try to infect your computer.
We refused to compromise, and I think the result speaks for itself. I truly feel this is our most powerful, safest and fastest Web browser yet.
But while we are pleased about our release of Opera 9.5, today is really about you. You have supported us and helped us evolve since we began 12 years ago. Back then we were just two people, sitting in a Norwegian basement. Now we are more than 500 people working to improve the Web for all. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done - and continue to do - for us.
I hope you enjoy Opera 9.5, and I hope you will continue to support us by turning the whisper into a shout. Help us continue making the Web a better place for all by telling someone about Opera today.
Respectfully yours,
Jon von Tetzchner, Opera The release is on their server. Their homepage has yet to be updated.

| I got it this morning as well.
Couple of little annoyances I've found so far.
When I type in the address bar, when I start typing, it suggest things to me that are in my bookmarks. How do I disable that?
Also, In Opera 9.5, I'm unable to have transfer history deleted automatically.
In opera:config, I have set keep transfer days to 0.
When I exit opera and re-load, the transfer history is still there.
In Opera 9.2x, transfer history was deleted once I closed and reopened Opera when using these settings.
What's annoying is I posted this a long time ago when I saw this behaivor with the weeklies. This should have been easy to fix.
Can anyone else confirm this bug? Any workaround?

1 edit | v9.5 is extremely fast!
However... on my Windows 98 First Edition systems, each time Opera is now opened, a warning message occurs indicating the msimg32.dll file is either missing or an older version that could cause problems properly rendering transparency effects. The message then suggests replacing the file with one from a Windows ME disk set. Unfortunately, that could conceivably be a fast-track that descends into "dll Hell", since other dll's linked to msimg32 might also need to be updated as a result, and their dependency dll's updated as well... and so on, down into the abyss.
So far, I've encountered no problems with rendering any of the sites I've tried... but the warning message each time I start up Opera is a pain... you have to manually clear it to let Opera load. There needs to be some way to allow/direct Opera to ignore the msimg32 version for those willing to live with any rendering problems that might appear from time to time. That, or there needs to be some positive assurances (based on tests) that a specific later version of msimg32.dll will work with Windows 98 FE with no unpleasant dll side effects. My version is 5.00.1693.1.
I've submitted this to Opera as a bug, but I'm not sure it really falls into that category... -- If God wanted us to work with electrons, He'd make them big enough to see...

| Well, I'm glad to see they've finally fixed a handful of small but rather annoying problems I kept running into, especially the .gif animation speed. However, I'm still running into two bugs- one old, one new.
- Web page icons are not being saved on my favorites.
- The address-bar history will not update. I tried clearing it out and now absolutely nothing goes in it.
Anyone have any ideas on these two? -- Four gods wait on a windowsill, Where once eight gods did war and will. And if the gods themselves may die, What does that say for you and I?

Edited to remove incorrect statement that favicons are showing on PC with Opera 9.5. PC still has 9.27 installed.

| Anyone noticed that with 'Auto Dropdown' unticked in opera:config, typed url's are not saved but when its ticked they are.
Also when you are selecting an url that is already in the dropdownlist just by clicking on it, it doesn't come up to be the first url on the list anymore. It does, when you type it in manualy... So over the time all your most visited websites end up at the end of the dropdown list. Very Annoying.

I don't see opera config to disable auto dropdown. All I have is tools> preferences and it doesn't show anything related to auto dropdown
