| reply to viewer Re: Emergency 911 service absent
We are currently in a Beta stage, and as such all users are REQUIRED to have other means of contacting emergency services. We are not a replacement for land line service, and if you need the reliability of a land line I highly encourage you to stay away from Voice over IP. Emergency services over VoIP will never be as reliable as POTS regardless of what the FCC says - there is simply too many factors that can go wrong.
Once we launch into production (and probably long before then) we will offer E911. We have the contract in place and working on implementing it.
Having said that- even after we implement E911, I would still recommend all our users to keep other means of contacting 911 available. It is enough for an attacker to shut off the power to your house to prevent VoIP-based 911 calls from going through no matter how well we implement it on our side.
For your safety, and my peace of mind - please keep other means to call 911 handy! -- Nitzan Kon, CEO Future Nine Corporation |
