| Westell wirespeed A90-220015-04 unable to login 192.168.1.1
Hi, Got an old dsl modem, a Westell wirespeed A90-220015-04. It works fine for connecting to verizon DSL, but I'm unable to login to the modem (I want to get the trans stats). I'm plugged directly into the modem via ethernet, and it's connected to the phone line. I've tried »192.168.1.1, »192.168.1.1:8080 and telnet 192.168.1.1 Pressed the reset button at the back, that did nothing. Ditto with a power pull.
Is my modem b0rked?
Thanks! |

| If it is working, it isn't borked :(
Check your internet gateway IP in the output of
ipconfig /all
Some versions of the 2200 default to 192.168.1.254 as their IP address.

| Oh yes, I should have mentioned that... It doesn't appear that my modem is functioning as a router... The LAN IP address my machine receives is the verizon assigned internet IP, i.e. 71.105.99.236 and my gateway is 71.105.99.1 which doesn't respond to an http request.
And I happen to have 2 of these exact same modems and they both do the same thing... So I guess it's not the modem....
Strange... |

As long as it is working fine, should be okay. If you need a router, you can purchase them relatively inexpensively. |

| Ok, never mind. I was trying to do all this far too late last night and managed to typo the modem version, which is probably what threw everything off
I have a 2110 (A90-210015-04), which is indeed a bridging modem, and I've now found the necessary faqs that should allow me to get the trans stats.
Cheers for your time anyway! |

| reply to willglover Is this even possible with a bridge only modem? That depends on whether the modem supports it.
You might take a look at this FAQ »Ameritech - SBC FAQ »Funhouse info on the original 5100a Modem including how to get at line stats which is for the bridge speedstream 5100a. The same method might work. It will depend on the MAC address being available.
Hmm, my 2200 is an A90-220015-04. It is a router. It has "DSL router" on the label. It does not have a MAC address on the label.
I'm wondering whether yours really is a router, and something went wrong with your reset attempt. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 2.0.0.14 |
