1 edit | AT&T DSL with Linksys Router Can anyone help me with a problem I'm having with an AT&T Motorola Modem and a Linksys WRT160N router? I've just switched from cable to DSL, my DSL service works fine when connected directly to the PC but I can't get it to work with my existing Linksys router - it will connect to the internet but I cannot open web pages or send / receive email. |

Bump to move this up, and thanks on who can help ahead of time. |

Also, make sure you client PC is on the same subnet as the router. For example if your router it at the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 your PC should have an IP address in the range of 192.168.1.2-254. |

If you really, really, really want to use your Linksys 160N behind your 2wire DSL gateway router, then look at the FAQ »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »Bridge Mode for the 2Wire 2701HG-B for how to put the 2wire device into bridge mode. -- We can never have enough of nature. | reply to powderspring I just spent a long after reading various posts, linksys help forums, and hours trying to configure, giving up and doing the linksys live chat. I was trying to connect my wrt 54g to the motorola 2210. Try to download and install into your router any firmware first. Also helpful to have a 2nd computer like a laptop when you're chatting with them. After that it came down to a few tweaks on the linksys set up page. |

| reply to David said by David:If you have a 2wire why use the linksys? the 2wire is a router and modem all built into one. Because (in my personal opinion) 2Wire modem's are garbage. Not that Linksys modems are THAT much better, but I have a need for gigabit LAN and Wireless N. Neither of which comes on any residential 2Wire unit. After ATT convinced my Dad he needed a 2Wire for his DSL, it took 6 units over 45 days to get it up and running. He finally went and bought a speedstream modem and linksys router and he is much happier. While I realized his situation is not the norm, it really turned me off! Also, (again in my opinion) Linksys routers are MUCH more customizable, i.e. dd-wdt and tomato. However, the average user should probably not have to worry about that! -- Captain Oveur: Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison? |

Ill give it a try, but regardless, ill still need my Linksys for the gigabit LAN and Wireless N. -- There never was a curse, the Red Sox really did SUCK for 86 years!! |
