@worldwebcafe.com | WRT300N is this one compatable?
I just got it and finally might get DSL from Qwest. If it's not, what is the best choice from Qwest? Thanks |

| Just so long as you also have a DSL modem, it should work.
Most of the modems have built in routers, so you can do without a dedicated router. But you can of course hook your router up to a modem. -- "You are technically correct. The best kind of correct." -Bureaucrat 1.0 |

| reply to oakguy Something interesting happened and I don't know what I did. Today my IP address or DNS address pops open the Qwest Actiontec router settings. Any ideas how to fix that? Yesterday it went right to my website?
I have port 25 mapped to my smtp server 3389 to my DC 81 to my streaming server
what have I done wrong on the actiontec? Thanks and I did assign a password to the Actiontec for sanity. |

| reply to oakguy The Actiontec's do not support local NAT.
If you have it forward a port to an internal node, you cannot access the internal node using the external address on any internal node.
The obvious exception for a power user is to VPN externally to get access to external NAT.
The other way to go is to put the modem in bridge mode and use a router that performs internal NAT.
Or you can use the internal IP for internal targets when internal... |

@worldwebcafe.com | reply to oakguy So I should use what feature to forward all traffic to my WRT 300N and then do the internal port forwarding (NAT)there? Your referring to static routing? |
