On a properly configured LAN, you can take down the WAN (DSL MODEM) 10 times a day, and when it comes back up, your LAN will have access to the internet again. Nothing changes. Matter of fact, without the Qwest part, you still have a LAN. You should be able to share files, share printers, communicate with internal servers, etc... If you can't, it's because you either don't know how to set up a network, or your internal network gear is garbage. Beeeeep; wrong answer, thanks again for playing. "NEXT CONTESTANT". Later....
skubbydue : I moved from California SBC 6mb downstream consistently, to Colorado Qwest. I had experience with the great DSL from GTE and Bell Atlantic. I presumed Qwest would provide the consistent DSL service I experienced with other DSL providers.

I subscribed to Qwest DSL Premium Service with 6 mb down and 1.5 up. The best downstream speed from Qwest was less than 3mb down - with the typical at around 87kbps.

A persistent problem was with Qwest interruption of service at least once per week requiring a reset of the modem, gateway, and switches. The other major issue was with the only machine running Windows Vista - a laptop. This machine required rebooting at least once if not twice per day to regain access to the internet.

I finally had enough with Qwest and subscribed to Comcast. consistent 6mb down and at times 13mb down. No more resetting the modem, gateway and switches. This forum post is being submitted using the Windows Vista laptop which has not been rebooted in 3 weeks.

The problems I experienced with the internal network, computers, gateway and firewall all disappeared - the real problem is a communication company that is lost and does not know how to run a network. Do not presume a method of escalating the issues up the food chain to correct the problems. It appears employees hide the problems from management and the executive department enjoys not knowing.
