| [General] majicjack lies
I ordered majicjack and had problems from the start....after trying 3 phones i still couldnt get it to work properly. Their online techs (7 of them) couldnt fix the problem. two even had me turn off my computer, what a joke that was their way of getting rid of me.Anyway i returned it within 2 weeks with all the proper paper work and found (while doing my on line banking) that they had hit my debit for over 100.00 dollars,it was to be a charge and as they advertise 30 day free trial my trial ended within two weeks. now i have to fight to get my 100 bucks back from this lying company. |

| With the exception of the latest software update not running properly on a HP T5710 thin client my experiences with majicJack has been very positive ... I for one highly recommend magicJack and the service it provides. -- David Mozer IT-Expert on Call Information Technology for Home and Business |

| reply to janell9876 I wouldn't install a Magicjack if they paid me money, mostly due to adware aversion. I just don't like non-standard installation of adware into my PC. To some this may seem old fashioned.
In my experience anytime something sounds too good to be true, it always is.
Consider a real VOIP solution, get a PAP2 or PAP2T, and a real VOIP provider. Then you'll have nothing evil sitting in your PC.
A Grandcentral number is free, an IPKALL number to convert your Grandcentral number to VOIP is free. An incoming VOIP account usually is free for incoming, and about a penny a minute per call. If your volume is less than 2,000 minutes per year VOIP can be less expensive. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| reply to voipdude It will be interesting to see what kind of battle im in for while trying to get my money back and im ready for a battle.It wasnt bad enough that it didnt work but to hit my debit account after selling me on the idea i had 30 days to try it risk free. To make it worse I was chargeing it to my credit card and they hit my debit account with the $100 bill.Thanks for your good luck wish |

| reply to grrr Hope you got it working...if you decide to return it getting a RMA# can be tricky....they want a copy if it from their website, well you cant!...i found this out the hard way..so when you get your RMA# check your email and make a copy from there. After getting several RMA#s from their web site, i was checking my e-mails and there they were, but no one on their website told me that i needed to check my e-mail to get a copy. good luck |

A "real" VOIP solution? Magicjack calls are at least run across its own network hardware, Vonage and the other 'real ones' cannot claim the same. |

I don't doubt that you've had the problems that you describe, but I've had no problems using Majicjack... I purchased another one for my daughter when she studied abroad in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji and without exception it worked as advertised.
I don't use it to replace my home phone because I don't keep my computer on all of the time, but when I do use it I get the features and performance that's advertised.
I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I'm not sure that your experience is typical. Hopefully you'll get either your refund or help getting the service you expected.
By the way, why were you charged $100? How many Majicjack units did you buy? |

@rose.net | I only ordered 1 Majicjack but I bought a special plan ..it was for 5 yrs service I think. |

| reply to janell9876 I have been using majicjack for about 2 months so far with out any problems i cannot tell any difference from a regular phone except i don't have a big bill each month for using or not using a wire line based phone system. i use the system with windows vista it hooked right up without any problems. my Walmart special v-tech phone handles all calls the same no exceptions. for all you whiners that cannot make it work get into the current generation of equipment and move on. |
