I didn't read the 2nd e-mail thoroughly to see that they said service delivery date of 6/16/08. Sometimes they might get done early?
Looks like delivery should be today.
I plugged in my ES5861 that I brought from home. It should work, right?
I get [LINK] indicator to light up but no [WAN] or [LANt] or [LANr] indicators solid.
It should function if they are really finished, correct? even if I haven't registered THIS new line yet?
Is the 'modem' that arrives in the kit going to be better to use? |

Covad uses 8/35, if I'm not mistaken. The 5861 doesn't hunt for the PVC, if I'm not mistaken.
So, wait for the new CPE to come in, it should work at that point. |

| I got package. Broadxent Briteport 8012-G1. Looks like just a modem.
I plugged it in. No internet connection light. Oh, well. Monday or Tuesday will be fine.
When I filled out the order online, I put in a desired username of BillyJoeJimBob@att.net. If I decide I don't want to type that whole thing everytime I log on, can I just register with BJJB@att.net or something else? or am I stuck with BillyJoeJimBob@att.net? |

I suggest you keep the long one an use that only for administrative purposes with ATT and as your modem and public WiFi login. Create one or more secondary email accounts and use that/those for your friends etc.
Log in with that email to check email via web. If you use an email program, the program remembers your email login anyway.
Also consider AddressGuard addresses. You can create different ones for different purposes. If one starts getting spam, deactivate it. All the various addresses in that case come into the single mail box associated with that address. |

I started at www.att.com. Account manager. Clicked on Business. Existing Customers section I put in the partial phone number that it asked for prequal. It kicked me around like a pachinko ball and I finally ended up at »www.usa.att.com/dsl/plans/preferred.jsp .

This is a office installation... I expected that was supposed to be Business.
FootPrint? We do have AT&T telephones down here, too. |

Cause I didn't think they took residential orders anymore. |

It sounds as though TAC hasn't finished provisioning the circuit. Unlike ASI, Covad will sometimes take the entire time to provision. Wait for the due date and call in. You should have your circuit ID by then. |

David, from my understanding, when the New T cant provision service for dsl, IE its outside of our Footprint, it goes to Legacy T, and they are still able to provision orders. They will not provision in our footrpint anymore. They will simply get them over to the New T for sales.
At least thats whats going on in the Business office in the Southwest Region anyhow.... |

| reply to ttiiggy Monday morning I got the email that they were 'DONE' with my install.

I plugged everything in and TRIED it. Login with my email address and password that I had chosen so I knew what it was. NO WORKY.
Fiddled around and finally READ the message that they had me print when I finished the order:

WHAT? This is a new method of logging in. I guess whatever works...
I am still having some issues with previous email settings and YahooIM not working on the new connection. ?? That is in a different message: »Help with email through Worldnet / Covad connection |

| reply to David Is there any way to get assistance with using MS Outlook and this Covad connection? I can't send email except from ONE computer.
I NEED to use a router for multiple computers. This WAS sold as a business network internet connection. They say they don't support using anything except what was shipped.
I call the phone number that att supplied. (866) 596-8455. They make me connect with a PPoE connection with my ONE computer through the supplied Broadxent Briteport 8012-G1 ModemONLY box.
With that connection, I can send and receive messages from all of my email addresses, including the supplied 'UserEMail@att.net' email address.
I called a different att number, 800-288-2020. They couldn't find my account. I assume because this is a Covad connection?
I can't use any of the other computers in the office, they AREN'T CONNECTED. Now what? |

| How about telling us your router config, as I asked in »Help with email through Worldnet / Covad connection
Your problem is with your stuff; be it router config or AV/client settings. No one at Worldnet, Covad, or ATTIS will help you with that.
If you are still using the PIX, post your config and we can tell you what is going on pretty fast. |

| They cancelled everything.
I got a message when I logged into the website that they could not bill the at&t&t service with my at&t telephone bill. They said the only way they could provide service was if I give them a credit card number to charge to. I don't have any credit card to use. They said to send everything back.
Done.
I CALLED and ordered at&t/Yahoo DSL, which is what I think I wanted in the first place.
So much for the convenience or ordering online... |
