The new Opera 9.50 may not play well with any site that resolves to localhost IP 127.0.0.1
»my.opera.com/community/forums/to···d=226872 quote: If you are using your hosts file to redirect to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) then you are encountering a new security feature that blocks public servers from loading content private servers as part of their documents.
In my case I've seen the browser be very unpredictable, occasionally allowing a localhost URL but often just silently refusing to open it. It's raising real havoc trying to do web development where the web server is running on my own PC. This Opera is also unpredictably not connecting to a proxy on this machine (also a localhost specification).
I can appreciate what they were trying to defend users from, but it really needs to be a configuration option that can be turned off. Or at least it should work consistently since being unpredictable totally ruins it as a security feature.
It's forced me to revert to using Firefox for local web development since I can only use Opera after the content is published to remote servers |
