"Traffic on our backbone is growing 60 percent per year, but our revenue is not."
In another statement they'd claim that they are adding subscribers at a healthy rate which should account for some portion of that traffic. Also, bandwidth gets cheaper as technology advances so their costs are decreasing. Lastly, their backbone services a lot of other providers as they are a long-haul provider. They should let us know how much of this increase is directly attributable to their own subscribers.
Remember, there are lies, damned lies and statistics. I tend to agree with the poster that this is a play to avoid other Video over internet providers using their pipes. It is also not a coincidence that 3rd party DSL providers aren 't getting the benefit of their Uverse infrastructure and the FCC has been much less cooperative with Covad and friends lately. |
