SMCWBR14-G router LAN won't let me login into hotmail & MSN

on the SMCWBR14-G router, I have a desktop connected to a Lan and my laptop to the Wan.
Desktop is with XP Professional and Laptop with Vista Home premium' I am presently with ACANAC.

The other day, my connections were down, so I had to re-enter the passwords and ip addresses. Everything went back to normal

except I noticed I could not login to Hotmail and MSN through the Desktop but had no problem with the Laptop.
I can login to MSN from the Desktop with old MSN version 4.x but not the new one.

firewall in the router is off, only on in windows and even put them to low and no dice.

After some reading and testing, I decided to connect my desktop to the Modem directly and I was able to Login. But when I connected back the way it was, cannot Login.
I can login to MSN from the Desktop with MSN version 4.x
Also I reseted my router and no luck.
I have tried IExplorer and Firefox and no luck

Can someone help me on this. TIA

Well after some research and thinking, knew had to be in the router well this is what I did.

In the WAN I had clicked on Static IP address and had entered the Acanac ip address.

this worked for the LAN and Wireless computer except the Lan computer would not connect to Hotmail or MSN.

so I re-read the specifications from acanac and realized I had to choose PPPoE and checked that and entered the ID and password and then tried hotmail and mns and voila everything worked.

surprized no one in the SMC forum came to the rescue.
