Approved Modem List

The approved modem list in the Knowledge Base has become a little out of date. I have asked our team to update it with as many of the known approved modems as possible. I am going to reach out to the power of the social networking community here on BBR to help us compile that list as well. If you are using a compatible modem or know of one that is compatible and would like to contribute, please respond with the brand name and model number of the modem.

In general our service will work with any ADSL modem that supports RFC1483 / Bridge Mode and DMT (g.DMT)
VP set to 0 VC set to 35. If you modem worked with another companies service like AT&T or Verizon, it is likely that it will work with DSLExtreme unless it has been locked to only work on their network.

Thanks.

Unless something has changed since December 2007, my Westell Wirespeed 516 worked great with DSL Extreme's service.

The first generation of Zoom modems do not work in some areas. They'll thrash between protocols, get very hot, then crash. The later Zoom ADSL 2/2+ work very well.

Yes, they're terrible to configure. The configuration pages are full of bugs, incorrect help, broken links, and there's no sanity checking. Accidentally entering a conflicting option may disable the modem until the modem is reset to factory defaults.
